How do I sign up ?

To sign up, please click the " BOOK TRIAL" icon above. It will take you to the booking page. Pick a date, and the location of the branch. Follow the online sign up procedures and pay for the 2 trial classes. There is no obligation to join after the 2 sessions. Take the time to enjoy the trainings and see if Wing Chun is suitable for you or not.

The teachings of Chinese culture and humility is emphasised at our school. The 2 sessions also allows Sifu to examine whether the students are respectful and willing to obey our code of conduct. Not everyone gets the opportunity to train at our school. But a rule of thumb, if you are friendly, you are welcome :)
We agree that money can buy a lot of things, but not everything and definitely not Kung fu at our school. You will be expected to be humble, train hard and earn your Kung fu the hard old fashion Chinese way.

What is the Beginners introductory sessions for ?

They are for people who are interested in our Wing Chun, but not really sure if this will suit them. Some martial arts schools will try and lock students in with a long contract on their first session. This is not how we operate. We believe if you like our Wing Chun, you will come back. For those who have done Wing Chun from other lineages, please remember every lineage trains differently, The 2 sessions will let you experience the Practical Wing Chun system. Participants will get a basic understanding of our theories, how we train at our school, and how to progress in Practical Wing Chun system to become certified. It is a privilege to learn Wan Kam Leung Practical Wing Chun under the Family tree of Wong Shun Leung’s lineage. We are proud of our system, but at the same time we respect other martial arts, and everyone is humble at our school.

What should I bring with me the first time ?

Please wear normal comfortable gym wear and a pair of sneakers to training. It is also a good idea to bring a bottle of water and a towel.

As a basic courtesy, please arrive at least 15 minutes before we start so that we have enough time to fill out basic disclaimer forms.

How many times a week do I need to train Wing Chun to be able to flow?

It comes down to individuals. We recommend minimum 2 times per week to be able to flow and move like we do. For those who are time poor, we have created the bronze monthly plan for once a week training. It will take double the effort and time but still possible, providing you train at home during your spare time.

Who should NOT be coming to our class ?

1. There are three types of people are unworthy to be taught (as stated below)
2. If you are currently training with another school, stay loyal to your Sifu. If you have questions about Wing Chun, you should always seek answers from your Sifu first. If you then decide to switch schools, you are welcome to try our trial class and see if it suits you.
3. If you are not from an associated branch of WKL Practical Wing Chun. You will most likely be asked to start from the basics again. Your martial art experience from the past will help accelerate your learning, but you will be expected to re-do the empty hand forms. If this does not suit you, we advise you not to come and search for a similar lineage in your area.
4. If you have a big ego and wish to prove to yourself that your martial art system is better. This school does not suit you. Wing Chun is a self defence system; it is about protecting yourself and the people you care about in a harmonious way. We have no place for bullies here.
5. People who are impolite and have no manners are not welcome at our school.

Why train with Sifu Jack Leung – Practical Wing Chun ?

Sifu Jack Leung is dedicated and practical with his Wing Chun. Sifu Leung started training with Grand Master Wan Kam Leung in 1996 and still travels to Hong Kong for training under his Sifu every 3 months. He has trained in a few different martial arts including Judo, Karate, Southern Preying Mantis Tong Long and Muay Thai. With great sparring and real life combat experience from the streets, Sifu Leung keeps his Wing Chun real with a no nonsense approach. Sifu Leung is also the only Wing Chun Sifu in Queensland that is Chinese and speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. Language plays an important role in Chinese Kung fu as a lot of techniques, angles, conditioning and training methods are passed down generations through language and demonstrations. Understanding the language and having the ability to explain in plain simple English will benefit Australian students further in their training, by closing the language barrier. He is also a certified Personal Trainer and introduces a lot of modern day physical fitness into traditional Kung fu trainings. He actively train everyday. Sifu Leung believes this is what a lot of Chinese Kung fu martial artists lack of. Many instructors live in their past; they end up stopping their own training and only teach. Sifu Leung believes there is always room for self improvements. Its motivation that keeps him and his team of instructors moving forward. Sifu Jack Leung is also humble; he respects his Sifu, and loves his family, treats his friends and Kung fu brothers with respect and looks after his students. Wing Chun is all about harmony. Ying and Yang (Hard/Soft), balanced energy. No aggressiveness. It is not a combat sport, but a self defence system. Once we can look after ourselves and our family, we can then extend this positive energy to those who may need our help. Wing Chun is the only modern active system out of 300+ types of Chinese Kung fu that was created by a woman. Most women are usually weaker than men, and we acknowledge the fact that people who attack us are usually bigger, armed with a weapon or we may even be out numbered.

We train our disadvantage into advantage, diverting powers and execution at the right angle and timing, to make our Wing Chun work well when we need it to. Some martial art systems will turn you into an aggressive person. On the opposite end, Wing Chun will help you stay humble and appreciate harmony. Sifu Jack Leung wishes to pass on this positive attitude towards life to his students.

Do you do casual trainings ?

No. We are not a combat sport club. Repetition is required for muscle memory for Wing Chun training. For those who are time poor, we have created a Bronze package for once a week training.
For shift workers, we now have morning & late night classes. Please refer to our time table.
For those who work away, we have released our Online training group program. Do not join the school if you can not commit to at least 1 session per week. Save your money & time. Find another martial arts school or join our seminars/workshops for Non-Wing Chun background when you have more time.

Can I come in and watch ?

We used to but unfortunately due to lost of properties incidents in the past, we do not offer non members to sit & watch anymore. Also Covid has changed things a bit at our school. We now run a Covid-Safe plan and we will need to record full details of everyone who enters the club. It is easier to book in a trial class so we have enough instructors to handle the additional paper work.

As above but if you have young children and they are a bit shy. They are welcome to come and watch the class outside of the school. (Covid Safe)

Wing Chun is a close range combat system. Techniques are repetition training for muscle memory. It is not as exciting to watch compared to comabating sports. We therefore highly recommend trying out introductory classes to physically experience the training and the vibe of the school. An interesting fact is that 80% of the people who attended the introductory beginner’s class enrolled with us.
